Meteorologists had been calling for snow in the Bay Area. While it got plenty cold--and, apparently, a few flakes fell here and there--nothing stuck.
Finn hasn't seen snow up close since he was a baby and he had never played in it, so we decided to set out in search of some yesterday. We wound up driving past Placerville on Highway 50 and up above the 3000 foot mark before we found anything meriting getting out of the car. However, thereafter, there was more than enough of the white stuff. We resisted pulling over at the first wide spot in the road and instead took the Sly Park exit and followed it to Jenkinson Lake. The snow was powdery and chunkable--not great for building a snowman, but good for romping, digging, and sliding around. Finn started requesting that we come back and do this again before we had even left.
